District Development Commissioner Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone chaired a meeting of officers of PDD convened here today to take stock of achievements made  in power sector under District Plan and Special Area Development Programme.The District Development Commissioner reviewed the Constituency-wise and Division-wise pace of achievements made  in power sector under District Plan and Special Area Development Programme with special reference to installation of Street Lights by different executing agencies such as Housing Board, Srinagar Municipal Corporation and  other executing agencies.The District Development Commissioner impressed upon the concerned officers to put-up an appropriate mark of identification while installing these lights to avoid any overlapping/ confusion  on this account and before release of funds an appropriate physical verification shall be made by the concerned departments.

The District Development Commissioner directed the concerned  to achieve the desired targets in full in view of the fact that a considerable period of time of the current fiscal has already elapsed.  He also impressed upon the officers of the Power Development Department to accelerate the process of creation of electric sub-stations and improvement of HT/LT network well in anticipation of the  winters in valley as an amount of Rs. 234 lakh has been earmarked for District Srinagar under Special Area Development Programme for the said purpose including an amount of Rs. 45 lakh for Northern Foreshore Road.The District Development Commissioner also directed the concerned to pay spot visits of the Shia dominated areas of District Srinagar and provide un-interrupted power supply during the Moharram Processions.Superintending Engineer, EM&RE Circle Ist  Srinagar and all the Executive Engineers of EM&RE of District Srinagar  attended the meeting.
