Regional Red Cross Society organizes ‘Sensitization programme’ at Udhampur

Regional Red Cross Society today  held a sensitization programme for the district officers and life members of DRCS The programme was held under overall chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Niraj Kumar.Honorary Regional Secretary Red Cross Society Dinesh Gupta and Secretary, District Red Cross Society Dr.V.P Sharma were also present on the occasion.Addressing the partcipants, the DC stressed on  the role of the Red cross society in promoting humanitarian values and various services  it is providing to society people in distress, particularly in the event of disasters and emergencies.Elaborating further, he said the  Red Cross Society is actively contributing in healthcare services, providing  assistance to homeless and economically backward children,  prevention of communicable and infectious diseases, conducting relief operations during road accidents,   fire tragedies  and other manmade and natural disasters. The DC urged all the district officers to contribute voluntarily towards the Red Cross Society for the noble cause.During the meeting, the members of the Red Cross Society expressed satisfaction over the role of district administration. They also apprised the DC of the hardships faced by the people of remote and far flung villages to get assistance from the District Red Cross Society as they have to travel a long distance to District Headquarter causing them loss of  time and money. They further put forth the demand for construction of a Red Cross Bhawan at the District Headquarter.  

Responding to the demands, the DC assured them that soon a Red Cross Bhawan would be constructed in the district and sought their cooperation in this regard. He further appreciated the interest shown by the members in helping the district administration in providing relief to the victims of the natural calamity.Stressing on the need for regular meetings with the District Red Cross society, he said it will prove helpful in encouraging the volunteers and increasing coordination between district administration and members and volunteers of District Red Cross Society.Earlier, the Honorary Regional Secretary Red Cross Society highlighted various activities of the Red Cross Society . He said that the RCS   purely runs on the charity and urged all the participants of the meeting to liberally contribute towards the human cause.The meeting was also attended by Joint Director Planning Rakesh Jamwal, PO- ICDS Rakesh Badyal, ACR Subhash Dogra, ACD Joginder Rai , other district officers besides Secretary DRCS Dr. V.P Sharma and life members of DRCS attended the meeting.
