DC Ramban reviews arrangements for Navratra festival

District Development Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Aijaz today convened a joint meeting of government functionaries and civil society members to discuss civil and security arrangements   for upcoming Navrarta festival in the district.The meeting was attended by ACR, Veviak Puri,  Xens of PHE and PDD, AD Food, Tehsildars,  Police officers,  Executive officers, members of  Beopar Mandal, besides civil society members and representatives of social and religious organizations  .The Civil society members apprised the DDC about various cultural and religious activities being held during the nine day festival followed by Dussehra festival on the tenth day and a colourful shoba yatra which shall pass through Ramban town peacefully.The DDC directed the officers of district administration to put in place all necessary arrangement for the Navratra events. Tehsildars and Executive officers were asked to conduct market inspections to keep a check on overcharging and quality of essentials, fruits and vegetables to the people. Meanwhile, Xens of PHE and PDD were instructed to ensure uninterrupted water and power supply.He also directed the officers of police to deploy sufficient number of personnel for security in all Ramleela grounds and other vulnerable points so that the religious activities are held smoothly. The traffic police was asked to maintain smooth vehicular movement to avert jam and overcrowding around celebration venues and connecting routes, he added.AD Food was directed to arrange sufficient supply of sugar at all the depots across the district. EO Municipality was asked to maintain cleanliness in and around the town areas.
