Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Sunday asserted that war is not a solution to any issue but instead breeds further issues. Shah made such remarks while reacting to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “provocative” remarks in Kerela on Saturday.

In a statement issued to KNS, Shah termed Modi’s remarks as “provocative” and “far from reality” saying war cannot resolve issues and that dialogue is the only way to resolve every issue besides paves way for mutual understanding.“Modi talked of eradicating poverty and unemployment, and spreading education which is good but he must be cognizant of the fact that such move requires a conducive atmosphere which is possible only when contentious issues are sort out in a sincere and decent way,” he said.Shah said Modi’s using of “war-like” language is uncalled for as “on one hand, he talks of eradicating poverty and on other side spews venom against neighbouring country”. “This is self-contradictory,” he said.“Modi expressed his grief over the killing of 18 soldiers in Uri attack but didn’t ask the people of Kashmir how they feel. “Indian forces killed 95 people in just 78 days and blinded 300 children and women by the use of pellet gun besides injured 12000 people,” he said.

The DFP chairman said following the killing of 18 soldiers, the whole country is being readied for war and Pakistan is threatened of revenge but the real issue – Kashmir – isn’t even talked about. “And those who want the issue resolved are being put behind bars, killed, and persecuted. The people of Jammu Kashmir too are desirous of a peaceful subcontinent but this is impossible without addressing the core issue. Today, if India and Pakistan are on the verge of war, it is due to Kashmir, the dispute which has heavily affected the economy of both nations,” he said.Shah said war is not solution to issue and Indian PM should take positive initiative in resolving the dispute and for this history will remember him for such step.Meanwhile, a DFP spokesperson while expressing resentment over the use of brute force on people by forces and arbitrary arrests carried out by police said such measures won’t yield any positive results. The spokesperson while commenting on the arrest of Freedom Party leaders and activists said that on Saturday night, party’s provincial president Kishtwar Moulana Abdul Qayoom Mattoo, Saif ud Din Baagwan, and Firdous Ahmad were arrested and shifted to Kot Bhalwal. Similarly in Wanpora, Budgam, party activists Irshad Ahmad, Mohammad Younis, Shabir Ahmad, Khalid Ahmad, and Abid Ahmad Dar were booked under PSA and shifted to Kot Bhalwal. (KNS)
