DDC Anantnag reviews pace of health-care infrastructure projects

The District Development Commissioner Anantnag Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah today chaired a meeting of officers to review the pace of progress on various ongoing  healthcare projects undertaken in district and state sectors.The District Development Commissioner took a detailed review of the ongoing development works including construction of Primary Health Centers, Sub District Hospitals and Trauma Centres in various blocks of the district.Threadbare discussions were also held with the officials of health department, and engineers of R&B, JKPCC, J&K Housing Board and Police Housing Corporation regarding the issues related to physical and financial achievements. The meeting was informed that under the district sector, the total approved allocation for the health department an amounts of Rs 124.79 lakh out of which an amount of Rs 75.63 lakh has been made available to the executing agencies. The works component under R&B, an  amount of Rs 111.76 lakh have been earmarked for infrastructure development and construction of primary health centers in the district.

 Similarly, under state sector, 41 projects are currently going on in the district with an approved allocation of 145.65 Crore, of which expenditure  to the tune of Rs 83 Crore has been booked up to March 2016. This includes 300-bedded under construction District Hospital, Trauma Hospital Bijbehara, SDH Dooru and SDH Kokernag. The meeting was informed that construction work of PHC Lalan, Gadhole, Navpora, Sallar, Chittergul, Ranipora and Sagam has been completed and will be handed over to the health department soon, while as the work on PHC Akhoora, PHC LG Pora, PHC Kamad and PHC Wantrag is going on.Appreciating the role of Health Department during the present situation, the DDC stressed that the department should continue to work with the same zeal so that people do not face any inconvenience with regard to healthcare services.Owing to the dearth of proper and timely funding, it was observed that most of the under construction PHCs are not completed within the specified timeline which results in the cost escalation. 

To ensure timely completion of these projects requiring huge funding under district sector, it was decided that CMO shall submit a plan to the higher authorities detailing these projects to be shifted to the state sector.CMO was also directed to submit detailed list of under construction PHCs on prioritized basis so that executive agencies shall be called upon to complete them on war footing.SE R&B and Exens of JKPCC and Police Housing Corporation were directed to ensure timely completion of ongoing projects strictly adhering with quality of work.The meeting was attended by CPO Anantnag, CMO Anantnag, SE R&B, Exen JKPCC, Exen Police Housing Corporation, Exen R&B, AEEs and JEs of R&B, besides others.
