DC Pulwama reviews Muharram arrangements

In view of upcoming day of Ashuraa in the second week of October, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Mr. Muneer-Ul-Islam chaired a meeting of officers to review the arrangements to be put in place for Muharram. Representative from Shia communities of district Pulwama also participated in the meeting & put forth suggestions with regard to arrangements to be put in place on Muharram.The issues with regard to sanitation, water and power supply, availability of ration & security arrangements were discussed threadbare in the meeting.The Deputy Commissioner directed the official of Food, Civil supplies and Consumer Affairs to project to the government rice & sugar requirement respectively over & above the approved quota for the district to meet the shortfall of previous months. He directed the officials of Municipal Committees Pulwama and Tral for ensuring sanitation around the places of congregation in Shia dominance areas especially on the day of Ashuraa.Referring to prevailing situation in the district, the Deputy Commissioner instructed district police to put in place effective security system to prevent any untoward incident.
