DC Bandipora reviews Muharram arrangements

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Sajaad Hussain, today convened a meeting to review the arrangements being put in place for observing Muharram in the district.The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Bandipora, senior officers from CA&PD, R&B, PHE, PDD, RDD, Forest, Municipal Committee, Transport and Fire & Emergency Services.The Deputy Commissioner on this occasion asked the officers to provide all the requisite facilities particularly in Shia dominated areas of the district. He said that additional arrangements of drinking water, first aid, power supply should be made available in these areas so that people do not face any inconvenience.

It was decided that a joint control room with telephone no 01954230245 will be established in the office of SDM Sumbal to redress the grievances of people, if any, during the Muharam days.During the meeting, Municipal committee and PDD were asked to ensure that the street lights are in working condition on roads leading to Imaambadas. The Deputy Commissioner also directed for deployment of additional man power at the Muharram function venues where large processions are expected.
