As the entire nation salutes the martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in yesterday’s terror attack in Uri, the Army gave a befitting farewell its brave hearts today in a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Srinagar.Laying Wreath on behalf of the Army, the Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Satish Dua paid rich tributes to the gallant soldiers.In a statement issued to KNS, the defense spokesman said that the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti also paid homage to the martyrs and expressed her grief over the tragic loss. “After laying the wreath, she also visited the Army Base Hospital where she met the injured soldiers and wished for their speedy recovery,” the spokesman added.

The spokesman said that in a show of solidarity, officials from the State government, administration and other security agencies also joined in paying their last respects to the martyrs.Among those present were the Chief Secretary BR Sharma, Home Secretary Rk Goyal, DGP Rajendra Kumar, DG HG/SDRF Gopal Reddy, Spl DGP Coordination and Law & Order SP Vaid, ADG Security Dilbag Singh, ADG Armed Police, L Mohanti, Divisional Commissioner Baseer Ahmad Khan, Joint Director IB Harmeet Singh and IGs of JKP, BSF, CRPF.The Mortal remains of the martyrs have been taken to their respective hometowns where their last rites will be performed by the family members. The Army stands beside the bereaved families in their loss and shares their grief and pain. (KNS)
