Dir, Horticulture inspects Baddola, Ramnagar nurseries

Director, Horticulture Jammu Bhawani Singh Rakwal today inspected various fruit plant nurseries at Baddola and Ramnagar.He also inspected hi-tech polygreen nursery at Ramnagar, high density plantation of lemon at Jib and different works carried out under MIDH scheme in different nurseries.He directed the CHO to ensure improvement in the quality and production of horticulture crops by integrated implementation of viable, eco-friendly, validated and refined technologies.The Director also asked to promote the establishment of modern nurseries for ensuring availability of quality planting material within the easy reach of farming community.

He directed the CHO to strengthen the availability of irrigation water resources and irrigation systems according to need of the crop and topography besides organizing on-farm trainings for acquainting the farming community with new frontiers of science and knowledge of developed technologies to achieve a vibrant, responsive and resilient horticulture which should be eco-friendly, equitable, sustainable and economically productive.He stressed for encouraging organic farming and minimizing the use of chemical fertilizers in Horticulture. Earlier, he also visited Fruit and Vegetable Preservation Extension Centre at Udhampur and stressed upon imparting training to the women regarding fruit and vegetable preservation.
