Nitin Gadkari announces new trade route between Jalandhar-Ajmer

After power surplus status , Punjab to have world class road infrastructure-Sukhbir Singh Badal

To give a big push to the trade activities in North India, the Union Road, Transport, Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari along with Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced to construct new 4 lane road between Jalandhar -Ajmer, which would be mainly used as trade route.After laying the foundation stone of 6 major road projects to the tune of Rs. 4600 crore here at Partapura near Jalandhar, Mr. Gadkari said that on the request of Punjab Government , Union Ministry has sanctioned the project as it would be in the larger interest of traders because earlier they had to use the Delhi route for trade . He also disclosed that the Union government has sanctioned 7 new national highways in Punjab, out of 24 sanctioned across the nation. To connect the semi hilly areas of Punjab with NH-1 from Phagwara, Union Minister also announced to upgrade the road between Phagwara and Hoshiarpur to the 4 lane status. Besides that, ROBs at Dakoha and Dhanowali would also be constructed in Jalandhar city to ease the traffic problem.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that after making Punjab the power surplus state of the country , now Punjab would be the front runner in road infrastructure as 17 projects worth Rs. 17000 crore would be completed in next 18 months. Taking a dig at PPCC president Captain Amarinder Singh, Mr. Badal said that "people of Punjab have already rejected him twice due to the anti Punjab policies of his party and in the coming assembly elections too, the congress would also score a hattrick of losses and would be politically decimated in the state.Earlier both leaders laid the foundation stone of 6 projects worth Rs. 4600 crore which includes 4 lane project of Jalandhar-Barnala road, including 145 KM stretch mainly in three districts Jalandhar, Moga and Barnala .  

The Project is divided into four parts from Lambra to Shahkot section with a total length of 33.28 KM including Nakodar and Shahkot Bypass with the cost of Rs. 847.02 crore.The project further includes 4 laning of Shahkot-Moga section of NH 703 with the cost of Rs. 766.36 crore upto 32.45 KM, having bypass at Dharamkot in Moga district. From Moga to Tallewal section, the 4 laning road would be done upto 38.65 KM at the cost of Rs. 904.82 crore. The project would also witness 4 laning of 29.64 KM Tallewal to Barnala section, having bypass at Barnala at a cost of Rs. 578.38 crore.Apart from this, the 4 laning of 39.125 KM long Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur road would be done at a cost of Rs. 1069.59 crore.The prominent amongst present on the occasion included Union minister of state Vijay Sampla , MLA Manoranjan Kalia , Gurpartap Singh Wadala , Sarwan singh phillaur and Mayor Sunil Jyoti .
