National Conference on Sunday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of 16 year old Javaid Ahmed Dar of Wadwan, Budgam who was shot by the security forces at Narbal on August 05.In a statement issued to KNS, National Conference Chief Spokesperson and MLA Budgam, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi said it was evident beyond any doubt that brutality had become the official policy of the government to deal with a political sentiment that finds its roots in a history of broken promises and deceits with the people of Jammu and Kashmir by successive governments in New Delhi.“This young teenager, who had his life ahead of him, had to lose his leg in the month of despair and trauma where he tried to battle death – alas unsuccessfully. His story is a tragic reminder of how both the Central and State Governments continue to derive sadistic pleasure from the grief and unimaginable misery in Kashmir. While Javaid lost his life, there are numerous other young boys and girls who are staring at a bleak future with permanently handicapping injuries”, Aga Syed Ruhullah said.“His heart goes out to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul. “I express my solidarity with the bereaved family and pray Allah grants them the strength to bear this inconsolable loss”, he added.

The NC Chief Spokesperson also condemned use of brute force on protesters across the Valley today especially in Karimabad - Pulwama, Zamalgam – Anantnag, Budgam, Trehgam and Kulgam.“More than a hundred innocent civilians have been brutally attacked by a joint raid of the CRPF and the Rashtriya Rifles of the Army in a morning raid in Karimabad, Pulwama. The situation in Karimabad is unimaginable and the raid is eerily similar to the raid in Pampore where a young PhD scholar was beaten to death. Under an unconditional patronage from the government, the forces have gone berserk to launch an all-out attack on civilians”, he added.“Similarly there have been hundreds of youth injured in Kulgam, Budgam and Trehgam today. While all this is happening, our Chief Minister has buried her conscience under the weight of her own chair. She is busy with her scooty joyrides and talking about her love for gol-gappas while our youth are being killed mercilessly. She has failed in protecting the lives and the dignity of the people of the State and continues to provoke the situation further due to her bizarre and insensitive statements”, Aga Syed Ruhullah said. The NC Chief Spokesperson also condemned the mass arrests spree across the Valley. “More than fifteen hundred youth have been arrested with nearly two hundred booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in the last week or so. Innocent civilians are being arrested and targeted for their political ideologies and affiliations. This indiscriminate crackdown on the youth of the State will be counterproductive and we condemn it in the strongest of terms”, the NC Chief Spokesperson added. (KNS)
