SAD-BJP kept its promise by implementing agri debt law: Sukhpal Singh Nannu

Former Punjab Kissan Morcha president and former MLA Sukhpal Singh Nannu today praised the SAD-BJP government in Punjab for implementing the Punjab Settlement of Agriculture Indebtedness Bill, 2016. Nannu said the ruling combine had taken a historic step towards institutionalizing the farmer credit business by appointing chairmen to the boards under the agri debt law in five districts of Patiala, Ferozepur, Faridkot (Bathinda), Ropar and Jalandhar.Hailing the state government for bringing in this farmer-friendly law, Nannu said, “It will not only provide immediate relief to debt-ridden farmers, but also set them free from the clutches of debt haunting them for generations.  Farmers of Punjab now have a fair mechanism for settlement of their debt-related disputes. Also, this law will dissuade farmers from committing suicides.  The SAD-BJP combine has kept its promise by implementing this historic law.”Nannu said since the law has been implemented, a farmer can apply for settlement of loan.  He said just after the application has been submitted, the interest on the principal loan amount would cease. Nannu also mentioned that boards’ chairmen in 17 other districts would soon be appointed.
