Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (independent Charge), PMO, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh, who is also the chairman of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA), reviewed the physical and financial progress  achieved  under various centrally sponsored schemes during the  current financial year in a meeting with the district officers here today.Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Law and Justice Abdul Haq Khan, MoS for Finance and Planning, Information Technology, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Tribal Affairs, Relief and Rehabilitation and Labour and Employment Ajay Nanda, M.P, Shamsher Singh Manhas, MLAs Dina Nath Bhagat and R.S. Pathania, Deputy Commissioners,  Niraj Kumar and Ravinder Kumar besides district and sectoral officers of Udhampur and Reasi district were present in the meeting.

Stating that the present government is laying special focus on rural development, Dr. Singh said that most of the schemes launched by the Government are aimed at development of rural and semi urban areas. He appreciated the Minister for RDD for his practical approach.Referring to Devika Cleaning Project, the Union MoS said that it is’ first of its kind project’ in the state and is important  not only from the environment and ecological but also from religious point of view  as it is one of the most revered rivers in the country.Regarding construction of Radio station at Udhampur, he said that the project had been delayed for many years but now the government is looking forward to it and soon a high transmission tower would be installed at Patnitop for digitization of the signal.

The railway project at Katra is also one of the prestigious projects being executed in the state, Singh added.Dr.Singh congratulated the people of Udhampur for getting the sports stadium.Regarding reconstruction of the land slide hit village Saddal, the MoS asked the district administration to work in close coordination with the public representatives. The DCs apprised Dr. Singh of the achievements made in their respective districts under different centrally sponsored schemes during the current year.Earlier, Dr. Singh along with Abdul Haq Khan, Ajay Nanda and other dignitaries inaugurated 22 foot bridges which have been constructed under MPLAD and MGNREGA convergence.
