Abdul Gani Kohli reviews availability of animals, poultry birds for Eid-ul-Azha

Minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Abdul Ghani Kohli today chaired a joint meeting of officers to take stock of the availability of sheep, poultry birds and fish in view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.While chairing the meeting, the Minister exhorted upon the concerned officers to ensure availability of adequate stock of livestock in the market for the convenience of people. In this connection, he directed the officers to frame a committee including the officials from FCS&CA department and monitor market prices to make sure that the livestock is being sold at government approved rates.Kohli asked the officers to facilitate local breeders in selling their animals so that they can get suitable prices for their products.

The meeting was informed that adequate stock of livestock are available at Bathindi, Sunjwan, Gujjar Colony, Gujjar Nagar, Talab Khatikan, Satwari and Belicharana. 

Further, it was informed that government and private farms have sufficient stock of poultry and fishes in Jammu to meet the requirements of the people on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.It was also apprised that teams of veterinarian will be available at various spots to ensure that healthy livestock is being sold to the consumers.Commissioner Secretary Animal and Sheep Husbandry Raj Kumar Bhagat, Director Sheep Husbandry Dr. Sant Ram, Director Animal Husbandry Dr. Sunil Kumar Abrol and officers of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department (FCS&CA) and concerning departments were present in the meeting.
