Ch. Zulfkar Ali reviews Eid-ul-Azha arrangements

Calls for strict market checking to enforce prescribed rates

The Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today directed the enforcement wings to conduct regular market checking ahead of Eid-ul-Azha to enforce prescribed rates of commodities.He asked the officers to work in tandem so that people celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with full fervour and gaiety across the state.He was speaking at a meeting held to review the arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha. Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IGP Jammu Danish Rana, Director FCS&CA Jammu G S Chib, ADC Jammu Rifat Kohli attended the meeting.The Minister directed to constitute joint teams of FCS&CA department, district administration, Animal and Sheep Husbandry department, Legal Metrology and Drug Control office to check overcharging and especially health of the animals.

Administrator, Auqaf Islamia Jammu briefed the Minister about various arrangements being made for the celebration of Eid-ul-Azha. The Minister asked him to notify the timing of Nimaz in consultation with district and police administration and also to notify Do’s and Don’ts for the people coming to perform prayer at various Eidgahs.

IGP Jammu informed the chair that adequate number of security personnel will be deployed at identified places and in the city.Zulfkar asked Divisional Commissioner Jammu and IGP to ensure adequate arrangements in Jammu province for the celebration of Eid-ul-Azha.  Zulfkar further directed the PDD authorities to ensure that the consumers get adequate power supply especially and there should be no power curtailments during festival days. 

Directing the officials of PHE department for ensuring adequate supply of potable water, the Minister also asked to provide water tankers to the areas that are facing water shortage.The Minister asked Director FCS&CA Jammu to ensure distribution of sugar for the month of September before Eid. He also stressed on effective monitoring of public distribution mechanism.The Minister further instructed to identify and   notify the places where animals can be made available for selling on prescribed rates.The Minister also directed JMC to maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness in and around the places of worships and at the places of congregations. He also asked for intensifying the market checks to have control on quality of sweets and dry fruits.Among others, Director Animal Husbandry, Director Sheep Husbandry, SSP Jammu Dr Sunil Gupta, Joint Commissioner JMC R S Jamwal, Administrator Auqaf Islamia Jammu, Joint Controller LMD V S Sambyal, officers of FCS&CA, LMD, Drug Control, representatives of oil companies were also present in the meeting.
