DDC reviews progress under ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’

District development Commissioner Kathua Ramesh kumar today convened a meeting to review the progress under “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” flagship programme in the district Stressing on involving all stakeholders in the programme the DDC said that awareness programmes should be organised in every tehsil He called for organizing educative sessions and programmes at village level and exhorted for synchronization among various departments to celebrate ‘Laadli Diwas’ on 19th of every month. He directed CMO Kathua to ask ASHA and Anganwadi workers to encourage women folks for institutional deliveries and avail benefits of various schemes and also maintain record of pregnant and lactating women. He was also directed to aware people regarding PNDT Act and strengthen their monitoring mechanism. DD Employment was directed to organize employment fair cum counseling camp for girls so that they can be groomed for better job opportunities while DYSSO was instructed to organize special sports/ athletic meet for girls at district and block level besides organizing special coaching camps for girls in different games.
Representatives of Degree College were directed to chalk out plan for skill and personality development for girl students. CEO Kathua was directed to organize vocational training, skill development and to identify school dropout girls and help them to get them enrolled by providing every assistance viz books, uniforms, bags etc.
DDC asked District Information Officer Kathua to make plan for organizing mega talent hunt for girls at tehsil level with successful participants competing at district level with the provision to facilitate the winners with cash prize.PO ICDS was directed to install ‘Gudda Guddi Board’ displaying gender birth ratio month wise at CHC and district hospital while CEO Kathua was directed to take initiatives like displaying the name of the outstanding Girl child in every school on the notice board as ‘Girl of the Month’ to encourage female child. ADC Kathua, PO ICDS, RTO Kathua, ACD, CEO, CMO, DYSSO, District Information Officer Kathua and other District Officers were present in the meeting .Earlier DDC took detailed review of the functioning of the Revenue Department. The progress related to status of Jamabandi and applications under RTI Act, and Performance under Public Service Guarantee Act were reviewed during the meeting. He directed the concerned officers to remove the encroachments from the state land especially Kah-Charai land . The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned officers to ensure public services are delivered in timebound manner . He also called for submitting latest land acquisition statements for the major development projects in the district. He also directed revenue officers to work with utmost dedication for electoral purification programme under NERP. In view of ensuing Eid festival DDC directed SDM’S/ Tehsildars to ensure regular monitoring to keep a check on prices of essential commodities.
