Corporation finalizes 174 cases of employees for regularization, Gratuity enhanced to Rs 10 lakh; MD for incentivizing performance

Addressing the long pending demand of the employees, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) today reviewed and finalized 174 cases for regularization.The decision was taken at the annual review meeting of the Corporation convened here today under the chairmanship of Managing Director JKTDC, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.The meeting was convened pursuant to directions of the Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti, who is also the Chairperson of JKTDC for revamping the Corporation and resolving the pending issues of casual workers.Director Finance JKTDC, General Manager Operations Jammu, General Manager Administration, General Manager Operations Kashmir, Secretary JKTDC, Accounts Officers and senior administrative officers attended the meeting.

Besides finalizing the cases for regularization in a time bound manner during the current fiscal, the meeting also settled 26 cases of seniority and pending cases of gratuity and arrears.In the meeting it was decided that cases of 174 daily-rated workers and casual workers will be placed for regularization in the forthcoming board meeting. Meanwhile, for 174 cases of regularization, fixation of seniority and left over cases of 2012, the Corporation has decided to put the lists in public domain to seek objections and suggestions till 20 September 2016 before being placed for approval of the competent authority.

In a significant decision, JKTDC has also enhanced the death/retirement gratuity to Rs 10 lakh up from the existing Rs 3.50 lakh thereby making the Corporation compliant with the Payment of Gratuity Act-2010 which will benefit more than 200 retired employees.Speaking at the meeting, Managing Director JKTDC Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary emphasized on incentivizing performance of employees in the Corporation through several measures including monthly performance based bonus, sharing profits from extraordinary schemes, introducing provision for education of children of employees and assistance for treatment and special circumstances. He also outlined the steps for outsourcing of the resorts for enhancing revenues to boost tourism and benefit the service condition of employees with enhanced finances. 

Every tourist establishment has been asked to award and facilitate "Employee of the Month" based on performance on fronts of business and hospitality, he said.It was decided in meeting to re-introduce the Corporate Privilege Card for regular guests and making conditions stringent to avoid its commercial misuse.Draft recruitment rules, promotion guidelines and other service matters including performance based Annual Performance Report were also discussed in the meeting.A comprehensive review of balance sheet, annual expenditure statement, proposed budget, service records, pending liabilities of contractors, up-gradation of facilities, publicity and advertisement was also undertaken during the meeting.
