Punjab Agro Signs Mou With M/S Pagro Foods Ltd For Potato Processing Plant In State

Punjab Agro Industries Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/s PAGRO Foods Ltd. in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for setting up of integrated potato processing plant in joint sector, here at Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday.Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the agreement was signed between MD Punjab Agro Mr. K.S. Pannu and MD PAGRO Foods Ltd. Mr. S.S. Brar, India’s largest producer and exporter of frozen vegetables, would setup the Potato processing project in Fatehgarh Sahib district to manufacture potato flakes, powder and frozen snacks. The upcoming unit would process about 60,000 Tonnes of potatoes every year. Mr. Brar informed the Chief Minister that the company would also take up research on processing varieties of Potato and vegetables. Mr. Pannu said that at present high bulking/low yielding varieties of Potatoes are being cultivated in the State and Punjab Agro in collaboration with M/s PAGRO Foods Ltd. would introduce low bulking/high yielding varieties of Potatoes. The Chief Minister directed that all the actions for setting up of the unit and conducting research on new varieties of Potatoes should begin soon.
