Calling it an exercise in futility Maulana Ansari reiterated that APHC believes that the most peaceful and democratic way of resolving the Kashmir issue is to give the people of Jammu and Kashmir the right of self determination that they have been promised or alternately hold an unconditional and meaningful engagement among the three stakeholders to the dispute India Pakistan and most importantly the people of J&K and resolve it in accordance with the will and aspirations of people of Kashmir .So to suggest talks under Indian constitution shows that India is not ready to acknowledge Kashmirs disputed nature and hence is not interested in resolving it.On the occasion, while condemning the arbitrary arrest spree of activists youth and children G N Zaki said such suppressive tactics will not bring Government of India its desired results as people in general and youth in particular are resolved to take the ongoing resistance movement forward towards its goal.

Meanwhile giving details Hurriyat (M) spokesman said so far in the current agitation around 2000 persons have been arrested, 600 more held in detention, 109 booked under the infamous Public Safety Act (PSA) which clearly illustrates political intolerance and vengeance of the government towards the people's movement. The spokesman said such tactics would not break the will and resolve of the resistance leadership and freedom-loving people and termed the night raids, breaking of window panes of residential houses, ransacking household items, setting cars and motor cycles afire and beating up inmates as war crimes committed by the Indian forces against civilians.Hurriyat (M) spokesman also strongly condemned the ruthless beating and abusing of photojournalist discharging their duty by the forces who have completely gone berserk and said it reflects the frustration of the ruling regime that can go to any extent to hide and suppress the truth of Kashmir from reaching people. Spokesman said the recent media gag in which local channels have been taken off air for showing the reality of Kashmir to viewers is the same fear of truth getting exposed that completely unnerves the regime and they again responded with their standard response of gagging and censorship.
