DDC Ramban reviews water supply schemes

District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz, reviewed the progress of various water supply schemes in a meeting held with the officers and engineers of PHE and Irrigation sector here today.It was informed in the meeting that 72 water supply schemes are in progress under the components like LIC, NABARD and National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRWDP) in the district.Further, it was disclosed by the Xen PHE that five pump rooms and 2 Ground Storage Reservoirs (GSR) are being raised at Gool where the bore wells have already been dug. In addition, three filter plants having capacity of 5000 gallons each shall be elevated at Batyari and Banihal including one for Ramban town with the storing capacity of 15000 gallons.While referring to up-gradation of water lines at Kote Kalimasta, Sangaldan, Senabati, Hadog, Gundi, Gagarsula, Chanjroo, Kaskoot, Khari etc, the DDC said that a detailed progress report be provided with financial and physical achievements  so that proper inspection and monitoring process is brought in force.

The DDC also exhorted upon the engineers for adopting proactive approach in delivery mechanism and said that there is need of managing and exploiting the available resources more efficiently and economically. He also instructed for adopting several techniques including the mass awareness in order to prevent health hazards due to water contamination particularly during rains. In this regard, he also cautioned the XEN PHE for issuing advisory to the field staff and public.Meanwhile, the DDC also took a review of PDD sector in which Xen PDD Habib Chowdhary informed that 81 transformers have been repaired against the funds released under district plan.The DDC instructed the PDD engineers for keeping transformers in district transformer bank in view of ensuing winter season and also in order to deal any type of exigency.Among others, the meeting was also attended by CPO Parshotam Kumar, AEs, JEs, AD Planning.
