MLA Langate Er Rasheed was released yesterday late night from police station Raj Bagh along with 50 volunteers. In a statement issued to KNS, AIP spokesman Inam-Un-Nabi said that though police offered Er Rasheed release an hour after his arrest but he refused to come out unless his complaint against army on forced labour is not entertained. After police denied to receive the complaint Er Rasheed started hunger strike inside police station. However, late tonight AIP representatives were taken in police custody to police station Ram Munshi Bagh where the complaint was handed over to concerned SHO under proper procedure. Reacting to NC’s offer of legal aid to detained youth spokesman said that though it is for NC to decide what to do and what not, but needs not to forget that NC is the architect of draconian PSA under which state apparatus has been curbing the voice of youth.

Why didn’t NC leadership offer legal aid to Afzal Guru, Maqbool Bhat and other youth when it was in power and now what prompted NC all of a sudden to offer legal aid to detainees. It was same NC regime which in complete consultation with PDP and other parties, sabotaged Er Rasheed’s resolution seeking clemency for Afzal Guru, as such the party leadership should remember that there would be hardly any takers of NC’s offer. The statement further added that Home Minister Rajnath Singh has been left humiliated and embarrassed, as his promise to stop use of pellet gun has added one more promise to the history of broken promises GoI had made with Kashmiris from time to time. Since the so called expert committee has made it clear that there can be no complete ban on the use of pallet guns, as such Rajnath’s credibility has become doubtful. He added that only way to get rid of pallet guns and other lethal weapons is to resolve Kashmir and no cosmetic measures will work. (KNS)
