Tohra family got fed with the anti-people policies of SAD before leaving the party

Renowned Panthic family of Panth Rattan Late Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra, known for their distinguished identity in the Sikh religion, today left Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). In-charge of AAP’s affairs in Punjab, Sanjay Singh, Head of the Campaign Committee and MP Bhagwant Mann, Party’s Spokesman Gurpreet Ghuggi, Head of Legal Cell of party, Himmat Singh Shergil, Spokesman and In-charge of Patiala Zone of the party, Dr Balbir Singh, Head of Trade & Industry Wing of the party Aman Arora, General Secretary of Farmers’ Wing Karanvir Singh Tiwana and other senior leaders were present on the occasion.Welcoming the Tohra family in the party-fold, Bhagwant Mann said that time is ripe for all Punjabis to come on a single platform to safe Punjab by ousting Badals from power and joining the Tohra family would definitely strengthen the party’s prospects in the forthcoming assembly polls.

While joining the AAP, daughter of Jathedar Tohra, Kuldeep Kaur Tohra and her husband Harmel Singh Tohra said that their family always contributed for rise of the Sikhism and Punjab and Late Jathedear Tohra spent his entire life to serve Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), but worst began after taking over the command of SAD by Sukhbir Singh Badal, who started ignoring the Taksali Akalis to run the party as Private Limited Company.Harmel Singh Tohra said that his family always contributed a lot in all Morchas laid by Akalis and even lodged in jail while doing so. Jathedar Tohra remained as Head of the highest body of Sikhs Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) for continuous 27 years and for 26 years he remained Member of Parliament (MP), but due to the anti-Sikhs and anti-Punjab policies of Sukhbir Badal led SAD, the family is forced to leave the party to join AAP, which has come with a ray of hope for Punjabis and Punjab.“There is no place for honest and dedicated politicians in SAD and many other Taksali Akalis are feeling suffocated in the Sukhbir’s Akali Dal”, Tohra family members said while declaring that they all are joining AAP without any pre-condition.
