JKAACL organizes GHARANA-2

Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today organized GHARANA-2, a family based programme at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu today.On the occasion, Suraj Singh, a renowned and nationally acclaimed singer performed on the occasion along with   his pupils. Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat was the Chief Guest.  Dr. Arvinder Singh Aman, Additional Secretary JKAACL was also present  Born on August, l8th 1965 in Village Nathwal near Baguna Raya Suchani in District Samba, Suraj Singh attained his Educational Qualification up to 12th standard from School for Blind Ved Mandir, Ambphalla, Jammu. After completing school education, he diverted his career towards Music and did his Bachelor degree in Music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahbad and Masters   from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh.

Speaking on the occasion, Bali Bhagat congratulated the family members and the students of Suraj Singh for his recognition in the world of music. He also thanked the JKAACL for its efforts which, otherwise, play an important role in promoting the culture of the state by giving platform to the Artists.The Minister said that J&K resonates with imageries of its rich part and is the cultural hub of the sub-continent because of its rich heritage, literature, architecture and folk art forms and this legacy needs to be protected and preserved. Earlier, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL highlighted the activities which the J&K Academy has planned to execute not only in the urban area but also in the rural areas to promote the Art, Culture and Languages in the State. Ravi Kant, a renowned announcer of Radio anchored the programme in a very simple and attractive manner. A detailed paper on the life and works of Suraj Singh and family was readout by Sanjay Vidrohi-a prominent Dogri Writer.
