DDC Kathua reviews progress under SSA, RMSA

District Development Commissioner, Kathua Ramesh Kumar today convened a meeting to review the progress under RMSA and SSA in the district.The meeting was attended by the concerned  officers   of Education  and PWD (R&B)  department.The meeting was informed that under RMSA 41 Middle Schools have been upgraded to the level of High Schools and Rs.1703.51 lakh have been released for construction of School buildings in Phase I, II ,III & IV against which Rs.1340.15 lakh  has been expended ending July`2016.It was also informed that Rs. 229.52 lakh have been released for strengthening of High schools under RMSA against which expenditure to the tune of Rs. 206.60 lakh has been incurred and work of 9 buildings has been completed.Deputy Commissioner was apprised that Rs. 19.50 lakh have been spent  for providing drinking water/toilet facilities in 13 schools and 106 Ramps have been constructed at the cost of  Rs. 10.60 lakh under IEDSS (RMSA).Under SSA 302 New Primary schools have been opened  in the district besides  252 Primary Schools have been upgraded  to the level of  UPS ,954 Separate Girls Toilets , 334 Ramps, 70 toilets under Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya, 400 General Toilets, 120 Boundary walls,14 disabled friendly Toilet and 32 NPGEL toilets were also constructed .

The meeting was further informed that 1147 Kitchen –cum-stores have been constructed under Mid Day Meal Scheme.DDC directed CEO Kathua to immediately take the necessary steps for converting the KGBV schools of the district into residential schools .He also directed CEO to organize   an orientation programme for the ZEOs to impart training regarding administrative skills, financial code and proper implementation of various schemes.While reviewing the progress of under construction school buildings, DDC directed the CEO to expedite the process of land identification and land acquisition for construction of 6 RMSA school buildings. He further asked the officers of education department to work in close coordination with the revenue and engineering wings so that desired targets could be achieved on time. The DDC also directed the officers to supervise the Mid Day Meal Scheme and ensure that proper quality and hygiene is maintained.
