Police Monday foiled the protest march of EJAC employees and detained scores of its leaders after they tried to march towards commercial hub Lal Chowk against the civilian killings in Kashmir.Led by EJAC president, Abdul Qayoom Wani, the protesters assembled at Srinagar’s press enclave and chanted slogans. They were demanding immediate stop of pellet guns and inquiry into the killing of lecturer, Shabir Ahmad Monga who was killed during the intervening night of August 17 and 18 in Khrew area of Pulwama district.While condemning the civilian killings in Kashmir, EJAC president said that inquiry should be ordered into the killing of Monga and inhuman attack wherein the “forces at Safakadal have fired at” the ambulance driver.He said that the health officials are facing forces harassment, which should be stopped at earliest. “We came on roads to protest against the killings of the civilian in Kashmir. 

Government should immediately stop using pellet guns against the protesters as it has maimed and blinded thousands of civilians so far,” he said.EJAC president said that the government employees are facing harassment by their officers over not joining their duties. “During this period of time, it is difficult for the employees to join their duties and the government should look into the hardships of the employees which they are facing after trying to join duties,” Wani said.Meanwhile, as soon as the protesters tried to march towards commercial hub Lal Chowk, police swung into action and detained scores of EJAC leaders including Abdul Qayoom Wani, Farooq Ahmad Trali, Fayaz Shabnum and others.They were lodged in Police Station Kothi Bagh.
