Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani said that our journalistic fraternity has been going through tough times to narrate the daily happenings in the region. Under their professional obligations they can’t isolate themselves by not reporting the bloody scenario of our land.In a statement issued to KNS, Syed Ali Geelani has further said that our mass movement, especially the present one, when whole nation is determined to carry it forward to its logical end, demands a strong commitment from all of us. We need to come out of the cocoons we have woven around us. Professional assignments aside, we have some more obligations as part of an oppressed nation, which is struggling for its basic rights. Everybody needs to own this movement and share their bit of responsibility honestly.

We can’t put this task to some leaders or some activists as the gloom and miseries of oppression and occupation have to be shared by all of us collectively directly or indirectly.Geelani said that we had issued a paid poster appeal requesting MLAs’, MLCs’ and other pro-Indian politicians to introspect their conscience and stop acting as a local mask to the Indian brutalities. They all agreed to publish it as (poster Advertisement) but none of them except Kashmir Reader and Tamil Irshad had dared to publish it. These were only words with no bombs, bullets, pullets, not even stones and I fail to understand why they were sacred of it.He further said that they usually publish material like this from government and business fraternity, but one wonders that which hidden hands prevented them to do so and deprived them from their finances as will.Geelani said that we reserve the right to ask our newspaper owners to come clear in this regard.
