Shivalik Bio Park to boost wildlife tourism: Lal Singh

Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Ch Lal Singh today visited the site for establishment of Shivalik Biological park (Jammu Zoo) at Jagti Nagrota and took appraisal of the features of project from the concerned officers.The Minister was accompanied by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, A K Singh, Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu Roshan Jaggi, Chief Wild Life Warden Deepak Khanna and other senior officers of forest department.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the establishment of modern Zoo would help in directing pilgrims visiting Shri Mata Vaishnodevi ji for wildlife tourism besides helping in conservation of wildlife. He asked the concerned agencies to ensure that the ambitious project is executed in most efficient manner and timelines fixed for its completion are strictly adhered to.

"The upcoming zoo would  be one of the best in the region and herbal parks, cafeterias, public utilities, parking spots and other facilities  which are available in the national level zoos across the country would be made available in it," he added.The minister took a detailed review of the plan outlay and ground work for the launch of this ambitious project. He was apprised by the officers that the proposed Zoo would have facilities for tourist attraction, children entertainment, eco-parks, wildlife enclosures, bird centuries with large number of species from the world.While discussing the details of the project, Lal Singh said the region has vast potential for Eco-tourism and the government is committed towards showcasing rich flora and fauna of the state to the visiting tourists. The biological park would go a long way in showcasing varied varieties of wild life of the region besides attracting tourists to the city of temples, he added.
