Chairman Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today said that from every nook and corner of the valley there are reports that the Indian forces have deliberately gone berserk harassing people beating them to pulp indiscriminately, and abusing them be it in Bahrampora, Sopore where the entire village was forced out of their homes and tortured, Hygam Baramulla where even women were not spared and shot at or the milk van drivers in Newa Pulwama carrying milk supply to hospitals. Mirwaiz said it is a deliberate attempt to instill fear in the people so that they accept their subjugation to the Indian state and comply.

Mirwaiz said indiscriminate firing of pellets on innocent children during the past more than 40 days repeated again yesterday at Nawab Bazaar locality during which a seven-year-old child Junaid Ahmad Khan was critically injured as horrific and unbelievable by a nation that makes tall claims of ahimsa.Meanwhile Hurriyat (M) said that the continuous curfew, restrictions and curbs for the past month-and-a-half, raids by Indian forces and police, ransacking of household belongings, breaking of window panes and doors of residential houses, arrests and detentions, and injuring of men, women, children and elderly people with pellets and bullets were continuing unabated breaking all records of barbarism that even puts Nazis to shame.

Condemning the attack on the 28-year-old Imam Qari Nasir Ahmad Shiekh, a resident of Kupwara by the Indian forces and continuous use of pellet guns on youth, the Hurriyat (M) spokesman said this was yet another example of worst form of atrocities committed by the Indian forces. The spokesman said the reign of terror in Kashmir started by imposing curfew, nocturnal raids and frequent arrests of youth was an open challenge for those who talk of humanity and democracy.Condemning the continuous house arrest of the Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other resistance leaders and making people strive for basic amenities for the past 44 days of curfew, restrictions and curbs, the APHC spokesman said this was a glaring example of denying the basic rights to people.
