Strongly condemning the imposition of curfew, restrictions and curbs for the past 43 continuous days, arrests and house arrests of resistance leaders, threatening Kashmiri with oppressive and suppressive tactics, Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (JKAAC) Saturday said adopting these tactics would not be able to break the will and resolve of the people toward the ongoing resistance movement. In a statement issued to KNS, the AAC said innocent unarmed civilians were being killed under a well-crafted plan to carry the systematic genocide of Kashmiris and thousands of people were admitted in hospitals where many of them were battling for their lives.Condemning the killings of five persons in Aripanthan, Beerwah and Batamaloo, Srinagar, and the custodial killing of a young lecturer Shabir Ahmad Monga in Khrew, Pampore, the AAC said by putting these innocent people to death the unruly and unbridled government forces had written another dark chapter of the ongoing history of human rights violations in Kashmir.

Stressing that imposing night curfew across Srinagar in general and Shehar-e-Khas area of the city in particular was meant to multiply the problems of the people in the densely-populated areas, the AAC statement said this was being done to create an emergency situation by causing dearth of essential commodities like vegetables, milk and medicines and torturing people both physically and mentally.Stating that the government forces were using imposition of night curfew as an alibi to forcibly enter into the residences of the people, ransack their household belongings, beat up the inmates – men, women, children and elderly people, to harass the people and create a sense of fear among them, the AAC said despite this, people were resolute and firm, unyielding and united for taking their struggle for the right to self determination to its logical conclusion. The AAC statement appealed the international community, emancipated nations and international rights bodies to take note of human rights violations in Kashmir and play their role in stopping the genocide of Kashmiris and in getting their right to self determination by using their good offices.Appealing people to remain united at all costs at this sensitive time in Kashmir’s ongoing resistance movement, the statement said people should follow all programmes of the unified resistance leadership in letter and spirit.
