Jammu to be developed as most desired tourist destination: Priya Sethi

Government contemplates to promote floriculture as a most favoured profession and develop some unique parks in Jammu for developing Jammu as the most desired tourist destination of the country.This was stated by Minister of State for Tourism, Education, Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks Mrs. Priya Sethi while chairing a meeting to review various projects of tourism and floriculture departments here today.Calling for proper maintenance of parks by the department, the Minister stressed on the need for efficient utilization of available Human resources by the floriculture department.

 The Minister further said that the government also contemplates to create and develop some unique parks in Jammu which will also include Rose garden with all infrastructural facilities for which she directed the concerned officers of floriculture department to formulate a meticulous plan. The minister added that it will certainly give a fillip to the tourism related activities in the region.Mrs Sethi reiterated that government is putting in all out efforts for providing world class facilities at all tourist places  especially border tourist places like Suchetgarh so as to develop Jammu as most preferred tourist destination of the country. 

She also said that every requisite measure will be taken by the government for bringing Jammu on the world tourism map. 

The minister also said that government mulls to create Zanana Park in every district for which she directed Director Tourism to moot a comprehensive proposal at an earliest.While reviewing prestigious Patnitop Ropeway Project, the Minister directed the concerned executing agencies to take requisite steps for its time bound completion.Regarding Jammu Ropeway Project, the Minister was apprised that it will be completed by March 2018.While reviewing the modalities for this year’s Jammu festival and Travel Mart, Mrs Sethi directed for early finalization of the dates for holding the same  .The meeting also discussed modalities for organizing flower festival in Jammu in near future.The Minister while directed the concerned for taking appropriate measures to promote Jammu as golf course destination, said that it could certainly give a boost to tourism and economy of the state.The meeting among others was attended by Secretary Tourism, Farooq Ahmad  Shah, Director Tourism Jammu Sushma Chouhan, and Executive Director Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society Rohit Khajuria.Later, the Minister also visited Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex and chaired a review meeting of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society which was attended by all the concerned officers.
