The Vigilance Bureau, Punjab (VB) has nabbed Punjab State Transmission Corporation Ltd (PSTCL) Test Mechanic red handed with the bribe of Rs.4,000.Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the VB said that the complainant Mr. Jasbir Singh Joga of Nivesh Vihar, Dhandra Road, Dugri, Ludhiana had complained that he had retired from government service on May 31, 2013 and his pension benefits were still unpaid. In this regard, he approached Rakesh Kumar Chopra, Test Mechanic additional charge Superintendent in the office of Superintending Engineer, Punjab State Transmission Corporation Ltd, Ludhiana, who demanded bribe amounting to Rs. 10,000 for getting the work done and received a sum of Rs. 6,000 and the remaining amount of Rs. 4,000 was also to be paid to him. The spokesperson further said that a trap has been laid by DSP Mr. Bikrmajit Singh, Vigilance Bureau, Range Ludhiana and a team of DSP Miss Gurpreet Kaur Purewal, Inspector Barjinder Singh and the accused Rakesh Kumar Chopra, Test Mechanic was arrested red-handed, while accepting Rs.4,000 from the complainant and this amount was recovered from him in the presence of government witnesses. A case under section 7, 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 at Vigilance Bureau Police Station, Ludhiana has been registered against him.
