Expressing grief over the killing of 18-year-old youth of north Kashmir’s Tangmarg area, Ishfaq Ahmad, who was critically injured in the firing by government forces few days back and succumbed to his injuries today, Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who has been under continuous house arrest, Monday said the death of yet another injured youth and continuous increase in the number of recent civilians killings is extremely worrisome.Paying glowing tributes to the martyred youth Ishfaq Ahmad and expressing sympathy and solidarity with his family, the Mirwaiz said the leadership and freedom-loving people of Kashmir were duty bound to ensure the sacrifices given by Ishfaq and other Kashmiris reach their logical conclusion.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of Hurriyat (M) while appreciating people for their passion of freedom and for observing a complete shutdown on the 70th Indian Independence Day and for observing the day as a Black Day, questioned how long Government of India could close its eyes to the realities of Kashmiris and unleashing of military might on them for subjugating them.Making it clear that use of excessive force and unleashing brazen violence on people would not help India in any way, he said these oppressive tactics would not be able to break the will of the people or force them into giving up on their struggle for their basic right of right to self determination.

Stressing that for breaking the will of the people striving for their right to self-determination, the way government had unleashed its forces on the people for the past 40 days to commit gravest of atrocities with its gruesome tactics, oppressive and suppressive measures, the spokesman said it had recorded one of the blackest chapters in Kashmir’s recent history of bloodshed. He said the Hurriyat and people of Kashmir were not against any country celebrating its freedom but at the same time want to remind that it was the Indian leadership that had come to Kashmir and promised Kashmiris that they would be given the opportunity to decide their fate by conducting a plebiscite but the Indian leadership not only reneged on their promise, the Indian government started brutally killings people just for demanding their basic right.Terming the continuous house arrest of the Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and the unified Hurriyat leadership for the past 40 days and arrests and house arrests of the senior Hurriyat and resistance leaders and activists, and holding entire Kashmiri population hostage by imposing continuous curfew, restrictions and curbs as unfortunate said this was the extreme form of oppression.
