Amritsar to be transformed into hub of tourism: Sukhbir Singh Badal

State developed on all parameters only during SAD-BJP tenure, Opposition unable to compete with SAD-BJP on progressive agenda

The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal today reiterated the pledge that the SAD-BJP government would leave no stone unturned to ensure that the state emerges and continues to remain at top spot in terms of development on economic and social index.Disclosing this here while inaugurating a host of development centric projects, the Deputy Chief Minister said that special attention would be paid to the overall facelifting of Amritsar and transform it into a hub of tourism because it is the holy city and Punjabi people the world over are deeply attached with it.Divulging more, he said that the SAD-BJP government has accomplished various development works in the holy city Amritsar, which includes city entrance gate costing Rs 8 crore, Entrance Plaza near Sri Darbar Sahib at Rs 200 crore, Fort Gobindgarh renovated with Rs 95 crore, and constructed heritage village at Rs 15 crore.Castigating the opposition parties, he said that they cannot compete with the SAD-BJP Government on progress oriented agenda as these anti-Punjab dispensations have no roadmap for the state going full throttle on developmental journey. He also said that it is due to this very reason that opposition is spreading white lies and defaming Punjab to serve its own narrow political interests.

Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of an R.O.B. to be constructed on the Tarntaran-Amritsar road at a cost of Rs. 130 crore. He also inaugurated other significant projects including mechanical sweeping machines, new building of MC office and solid waste management project at a cost of Rs. 460 crore thus initiating projects to the tune of around Rs. 600 crore.Among others present on the occasion included Revenue, Rehabilitation and Non-conventional Energy Resources Minister Punjab Bikram Singh Majithia, Local Bodies, Medical Education and Research Minister Anil Joshi, Commissioner of Police Amar Singh Chahal, Deputy Commissioner Varun Roojam, Mayor Bakshi Ram Arora, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Amritsar Sonali Giri and others.
