Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal addressing a huge rally here declared that in the coming days Ahmedgarh would be accorded the status of a sub-division. Addressing people at old anaj mandi after the inauguration of sewa kendar, S. Badal said that the state government has today put into practice its remarkable initiative of providing all government services to the people near their doorstep with the commencing of operations by 332 sewa kendars in the urban areas whereas 3000 sewa kendars established in the rural areas would begin operations in the month of October. Disclosing more, the Deputy Chief Minister said that after the super success of saanjh kendars & fard kendars, the sewa kendars have been set up in order to provide government services to the people in a time bound and transparent manner.

Elaborating on the development oriented projects going on in the state, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the state has now become power surplus and multi crore projects pertaining to 4 and 6 laning of roads are being executed on war footing. He said that the work relating to the provision of 100 percent sewerage and water supply in the 160 mandis of the state would be completed in the 6 months time. Giving more details, he said that the state government waived off the electricity bills of the farming community, initiated atta-dal scheme, shagan scheme besides being the first state in the entire country to start free health insurance scheme and is now well on course to establish approximately 300 skill development centers in the state so as to generate new employment avenues for youth.

Coming to more development centric measures, S. Badal said that in the coming 2 months the state would see the opening of free medicine centers besides constructing graveyards for the muslim and Christian communities at a cost of Rs. 1.25 crore thus catering to one of their biggest demands. He also said that now the state government has extended the facility of 200 units of free power to the Backward Classes also whereas earlier it was being provided to the Scheduled Caste community. Adding more, he said that soon enough a grant of Rs. 10 crore would be given for the development of ahmedgarh and amargarh.Earlier, S. Badal laid the foundation stone of an ultra modern anaj mandi to come up in 52 acres at a cost of Rs. 50 crore in ahmedgarh apart from the development centric projects relating to sewerage, railway crossing and other works in the city at a cost of Rs. 21,56,00000.On the occasion, MLA Amargarh and Chairman District Planning Committee Iqbal Singh Jhundan welcomed and profusely thanked the Deputy Chief Minister for untiring efforts to bring ahmedgarh in the frontranking position on developmental map.
