At least six persons were injured when police used force to foil AIP’s 72 hours sit-in protest in Srinagar today. Despite curfew and strict restrictions, dozens of AIP workers succeeded in assembling at Lal Chowk near Press Colony and started the Sit-in. However, Police swung into action and used force to disperse the sit-in. Police dragged ruthlessly the protestors resulting in injuries to at least 6 protestors and arrested about 20 of them including Er Rashid and lodged them in police station Kothi-Bagh. According to a statement issued to KNS, speaking to media persons before the arrest, Er Rashid accused police of crossing all limits and doing every dirty and damn act to get praises from their masters.

Er Rashid said “ Today’s protest was to ask the Indian Parliamentarians what so ever they have been discussing in and outside parliament is nothing but an attempt to divert from real issue. The battle of Kashmiris is not about the getting jobs nor are Kashmiris beggars so that they need packages but are simply seeking resolution of Kashmir issue through right to self determination”. He added, “If Government of India believes that Kashmiris will get tired and give up their indigenous struggle that thing will never happen”. He also asked world community to not get mislead by propaganda of Indian State, accusing Kashmiris of seeking resolution on religious lines and added that J&K is neither India’s integral part nor Pakistan’s Jugular vein unless people of J&K don’t decide by a plebiscite what they want.
