Former Union Minister and Senior Congress leader, Prof. Saifuddin Soz on Thursday said that what A.G. Noorani says and Dr. Karan Singh said, constitutes a friendly advice to Kashmir for a “Course Correction”. “I would take the position that sooner it is done, the better,” he said.In a statement issued to KNS, Soz said that “I want to share with you the strongest feeling in my mind on this day. While I share it with you, I don’t feel assured that you would care to take any notice of what I am saying, but, then, the essence of democracy is exchange of ideas!. Today, I feel that Kashmir (please mind, I am not referring to J&K) should take notice of some epoch- making ideas. There are many, but let me select just two of these for your consideration,” he said.He said that one is that an advice given to you (Kashmiris) by your trusted friend and Philosopher - A. G. Noorani should receive your attention.

Noorani told you recently the following:-

“The top Kashmiri Leadership should unite on a strategy of “PEACEFUL – ASSERTION” and he reminded you of Edmund Burke (an Irish Statesman and Philosopher) telling the House of Commons on March 22, 1775 many things including the following.“Reason is fatigued, Invention is exhausted and experience has given judgment but, obstinacy is not conquered”!

He said that “I would also share my thinking that the debates in the Parliament or discussions in the scheduled All-Party Meeting at Delhi and the visit of Parliamentarians here, may not alter the situation for Delhi’s Power Elite in its relation with Kashmir. But, never mind, you have the fulcrum with you!”

He said that many good speeches were made in the Raj Sabha, the other day. “Let Kashmiris take particular notice of what Dr. Karan Singh told the Raj Sabha. Let Kashmiris forget the part played by Dr. Karan Singh as the most important factor in organizing the fateful event of August 9, 1953. But, today his two words to the Raj Sabha, should matter to Kashmiris. One is that the Kashmir acceded to India with some conditions. The second is that Delhi has the Compulsion of Biting the Bullet to resolve Kashmir! I did offer thanks to Dr. Karan Singh as an individual,” he said. (KNS)
