Expressing his anguish and shock over the unabated killings across Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin today questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi has adopted silence over the happenings in Kashmir. “It seems Modi is more concerned about Congress president Madam Sonia’s fever than killing of people in Kashmir. Despite killing of 60 people and injuries to thousands others in forces firing, PM Modi has adopted a complete silence on Kashmir,” Hakim Yasin said in a statement to KNS.

He asked New Delhi to act and act fast. “Why is Center led by Modiji maintaining silence when people are being killed on roads everyday in Kashmir? Isn’t it the duty of the government to protect the lives of citizens,” the PDF chief asked. Urging both Center and state governments to initiate a meaningful and time bound dialogue with separatists to settle the issues, the MLA Khansahib said, “There is no way out but to talk with all the stakeholders of Kashmir problem. I urge Modi to invite separatists for a dialogue so that the situation in Kashmir can be brought back to normalcy. New Delhi should also hold a meaningful and time bound dialogue with Pakistan over Kashmir as was done during Atal Behari Vajpayee’s tenure.”

While strongly condemning the killings of unarmed protesters in every nook and corner of the Valley, he demanded a thorough and time bound probe by a sitting high court judge into the killings. “It is proper time that the government appoints a commission headed by a sitting high court judge and fixes the responsibility of killings,” he said.

Hakim Yasin also condemned the use of brute force against the people in Khansahib and extended his full support to the people. “I assure people of my area of my full support and express sympathies with the families of those who were killed and injured in Friday’s firing,” he said. He expressed his heartfelt condolences with the families of those killed in last one month and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. (KNS)
