Residents in three districts of south Kashmir held protests on Monday night against the nocturnal raids by police to arrest the alleged stone pelters and youth who have been protesting in the ongoing unrest.Residents in Shopian, Kulgam and Pulwama districts held nocturnal protests against police raids.On Monday night, the residents of number of villages near the Pulwama town held protests against police that had come for raids and arrest youth.Residents in Kareemabad, Gudoora, Sirnoo, Monghama and other nearby villages came out of their homeson Monday night against police raids.The residents raised anti-India and pro-freedom slogans in these areas of to resist the arresting of youth during the night.Residents said that police and SOG teams raided these areas but panicked inhabitants poured out of their homes and raised alarm. One person has been picked up in Kareemabad village on Monday night.

Superintendent of Police, Pulwama, Muhammad Rayees Bhat told KNS that police raided Kareemabad village on Monday night to arrest youth who are involved in stone pelting. The SP said that despite strict restriction, protests and stone pelting takes place in Pulwama district “though the intensity of protests is decreasing”.Police sources in Pulwama said that 80 youth have been arrested in the last few days for stone pelting and holding protests in the district.Similarly, residents in Shopian and Kulgam districts held protests on the night against police raids.A police official posted in Srinagar said that the intensity of protests is coming down with each passing day from the last week.Similar protests were held in Barbarsah here against the arrest of youth by police on Tuesday afternoon.The residents told KNS that police arrested some youths and accused them of stone pelting. The residents raised slogans against the police and government. (KNS)
