Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today convened a high level officers’ meeting here to review the arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day Celebration in the districts of Kashmir valley and Ladakh region.The Divisional Commissioner was appraised by the concerned officers regarding arrangements made for smooth conduct of Independence Day celebrations. The District Development Commissioners of the Valley, Leh and Kargil districts briefed the Div. Com about the arrangements through video conferencing.The meeting was informed that the main function will be held at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar where the Chief Guest will unfurl the National Flag and take salute during the march past.Various contingents of J&K Police, JKAP, BSF, CRPF, Fire & Emergency Services, Forest Protection Force, NCC cadets, ITBP, SSB, SDRF and Home Guards are participating in the march past.The Div Com stressed the School Education department to make concerted efforts for ensuring the participation of school children in the function.

Reviewing the security arrangements, the Divisional Commissioner asked for sensitization of security in and around Bakshi Stadium. The Traffic department was directed to indentify space for parking of vehicles.Other arrangements which were discussed include arrangement of seating, illumination of buildings on the eve of August 15, barricading, PAS for VIP speech, availability of dewatering pumps and SRTC buses, besides fire tenders. The Divisional Commissioner also reviewed arrangements put in place by PDD, PHE, and Health departments for smooth conduct of event.The meeting took various decisions to further upgrade the arrangements to facilitate the movement of people, students as well as employees to participate in the national function.IGP Kashmir, DDC Srinagar, various HOD’s, Chief Engineers of various departments, senior civil and police officers, IG BSF, Kashmir, IG CRPF, Kashmir and DIG, ITBP also attended the meeting.
