Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Baseer Ahmad Khan chaired a meeting of officers to discuss the modalities with regard to setting up of AIIMS at Awantipora, Pulwama in Kashmir Division.The meeting was attended by Secretary, Health and Medical Education, GoC Victor Force, Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Chief Engineers of R&B, PHE, PDD, UEED, besides Senior Superintendent of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama and Defence Estate Officer, BB Cant Srinagar.The meeting was informed that 1772 kanals of land has been identified for the establishment of said institute at Awantipora. It was also informed that 300 kanals of land will come under section 5, for which the compensation will be paid.Threadbare discussion was also held on construction of 4-lane approach road to proposed site for AIIMS, besides provision of water and power supply.Asking the line departments for preparing the Detailed Project Reports with regard to work of their departments and submit the same so that  Central Government is approached for release of funds, the Divisional Commissioner also asked for closing firing range butt of army located adjacent to proposed site of AIIMS at Awanitpora.
