DDC Anantnag reviews functioning of RDD, SW Depts.

Stresses on involvement of stakeholders in decision making

The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah  reviewed functioning of Rural Development and Social Welfare (SW) departments here today.During the meeting, the concerned officers presented a detailed review of the physical and financial achievements of the departments in the current financial year.The DDC stressed upon the officers of Rural Development Department to utilize the finances by engaging locals especially youth under MGNREGA by creating sustainable assets. He said that for effective public deliverance and proper utilization of funds involvement of stakeholders is of pivotal importance.The DDC directed the officers of RDD and other line departments to propose a plan to develop playfields for the local youth in every block of the district.

The meeting was informed that under MGNREGA, 1.43 lakh man-days have been generated, while 5254 works of public importance have also been taken up in various blocks of the district during current financial year. Besides, the meeting was also informed that out of the approved outlay of Rs 50.42 Crore for the current financial year Rs 27.5 crore has already been expended for construction of various developmental projects.The DDC stressed on the officials to coordinate with the engineering wings so that projects and estimates are formulated and cleared without any delay. He instructed the functionaries of RDD to concentrate on area specific needs and propose plans that cater to large sections of people especially in the areas like flood protection, agriculture and horticulture.The DDC instructed the ICDS project officers to do random checks of the stores so that quality food is provided to the children in Anganwari centers of the district.The meeting was attended by CPO Anantnag, BDOs, District Social Welfare Officer, Exens of RDD, CDPOs, Panchayat Secretaries besides others.
