Admissions Commence In 3 New Meritorious Schools, Classes From Present Session Onwards: Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema

“The number of meritorious schools, opened by the Education Department for providing free and quality education to the government schools students who are intelligent but belong to economically poor sections, is going to rise further this year as 3 new meritorious schools at ghabda (Sangrur), Gurdaspur and Hakumat Singhwala (Ferozepur) are in the process of being made operational. The admissions for admitting students in class 10+1 have already begun.” This was disclosed by the Education Minister, Punjab, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema after a meeting here at the Punjab Civil Secretariat with the administrative and education officials of the 3 districts during which he took stock of the spadework regarding the 3 schools.Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema further said that in accordance with the dream project of the Chief Minister, Punjab, S. Parkash Singh Badal, the state government had opened 7 meritorious schools at Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Patiala, Mohali and Talwara (Hoshiarpur). Divulging more, Dr. Cheema said that the Chief Minister had decided opening 3 more such schools this year at Sangrur, Gurdaspur and Ferozepur.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur Mr. Pardeep Sabharwal, ADC Sangrur Mr. Rajinder Batra apprised the Education Minister that the admission process has started at these schools. The construction work of these schools is nearing completion and the classes would begin with the academic session taking off after admissions get over.The minister instructed the administrative and education officers of the districts to ensure the beginning of classes on time and make sound hostel and mess arrangements for the students.Prominent among others who were present in the meeting included Mr G Vajralingam, Principal Secretary, Mr Pardeep Aggarwal, Director General School Education, Major Gen (Retd) Mr KAS Bhuller, Project Director, Meritorious School Society,  Mr Balbir Singh Dhol, DPI (SE), Mrs Pankaj Sharma, DPI (EE), Administration and Education Officers of Concerned Districts.
