Police on Wednesday arrested senior pro-freedom leader Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq outside his highly guarded Nigeen residence when he defied the restrictions to lead a procession towards martyrs’ graveyard in Naqashband sahib (R A) Srinagar.According to KNS correspondent, police lodged Mirwaiz at S P office Nigeen."Mirwaiz alongwith several other leadrs were taken to SP office Nigeen," a Hurriyat (M) leader told KNS. They were chanting pro-freedom and anti-Govt slogans. Mirwaiz and other senior pro-freedom leaders had called for a procession towards the martyrs’ graveyard to pay tributes to the martyrs’ of 1931.The leaders had planned to address people there. Meanwhile, media advisor, Shaid-ul-Islam confirmed the incident and said that Mirwaiz has been lodged in SP office Nigeen. (KNS)
