A cop was Saturday killed after protesters pushed his vehicle into river Jhelum in Sangam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. An official told KNS that agitated youth protesting against the civilians killing pushed a police vehicle into the Jhelum River in Sangam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district thereby resulted in the killing of a police personnel.According to KNS correspondent, the slain cop was identified as Afroz Ahmad Lone, son of Muhammad Shafi lone resident of Lone pora Mattan. A top police official confirmed the incident and said that the youth gathered on the bridge and pushed the police vehicle alongwith a police personnel into river, which resulted in his death.Pertinently, 96 police personnel have sustained injuries during the clashes between youth and forces in Kashmir on Saturday while three more policemen are missing with weapons after youth attacked a Damhal Hanjipora police station.
