CM Gives Nod To Purchase Plant Harvester For De-Weeding Water Bodies Across The State

Approves De-Silting Of Old Bikaner Canal From Hussainwala Headworks To Ballewal Head

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal gave nod for purchasing Plant Harvester to remove the Hyacinth weed from Harike reservoir and other water bodies in the state.A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister during a meeting with Rajasthan Water Resources Minister Dr. Ram Partap, who called on the former at his official residence last late evening.Disclosing his here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that it was decided in the meeting that in order to de-weed the water bodies in the state to give a clean and hygienic look to them, the Punjab Government would purchase ultra modern Plant Harvester to remove the Hyacinth weed from Harike reservoir and other water bodies. Mr. Badal asked the concerned officers to expedite the process of purchasing this machine so that to ensure the supply of potable water through them. 

Likewise, it was also decided to maintain constant discharge in Bikaner Canal within the constraint of the present situation. During the meeting, it was also decided to clear and de-silt the old Bikaner Canal from Hussaniwala Headworks to Ballewala Head by using long boom machines.During the meeting, Chief Engineer Water Resources Rajasthan informed that the Rajasthan Government would shift two long boom machines to supplement the discharge in the main branch of the Eastern Canal.Prominent amongst those who were present in the meeting included Principal Secretary to CM Mr. SK Sandhu, Chief Engineer Canal Punjab Mr. Jatinder Pal Singh and Chief Engineer Water Resources Rajasthan Mr. Raj Kumar Chowdary.
