Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today dedicated to the people three Community Centres constructed by Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) in different parts of the summer capital at a cumulative cost of Rs 5.32 crore.Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Ms Asiea Naqash and Legislators, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Sheikh Noor Mohammad, Anjum Fazili and Mohammad Khurshid Alam were present on the occasion.The Community Centre at Nallibandhpora, Safakadal constructed at a cost of Rs 1.62 crore has a plinth area of 2300 sft. It has two big halls, two utility rooms and two washrooms.The Community Centre at Khal, Natipora constructed at a cost of Rs 1.70 crore has a plinth area of 2800 sft. It has two big halls, two utility rooms, two bedrooms and two washrooms.The Community Centre at Gangbugh constructed at a cost of Rs 2.00 crore has a plinth area of 3800 sft. It has two big halls, two bedrooms with attached washrooms, two utility rooms and two common two washrooms.The Community Centres to be used by the locals for social gatherings and marriages have been also provided with separate cooking area and parking facility besides other requisite amenities.

Urging people to make best use of these community facilities, the Chief Minister said possibilities will be explored to utilize these centres for vocational and related activities for youth development apart from routine social events. “These community facilities can also be used by the women of the area to share their feelings and thoughts,” she said.Ms Mehbooba said there is great need of establishing such community centres in other parts of the Srinagar so that people can make best use of these facilities for social gatherings due to scarcity of open space in the city.En-route, hundreds of people, mostly the women, called on the chief minister and informed her about their grievances and problems pertaining to drinking water and other facilities of their respective areas.The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the people, and assured them that the issues raised by them would be addressed on priority.Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Asgar Hassan Samoon, Commissioner Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, Mr Hirdesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Bashir Ahmad Khan, Vice-Chairman Srinagar Development Authority, Tehseen Mustafa, DIG Police Central Kashmir, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, SSP Srinagar, Amit Kumar, SSP Budgam Fayaz Ahmad Lone besides officers of district administration and SMC were also present on the occasion.
