Punjab Bags Overall 3rd Position In 61st National School Games

With 109 Gold, 139 Silver And 140 Bronze Players Clinches Total 388 Medals

The Punjab State has improved its grades in the 61st National School games by claiming overall 3rd position with the players bagged 109 gold, 139 sliver and 140 bronze medals and registered 388 medals in the total medal tally.  Punjab Stood 4th in the previous 60th National School Games and this year Punjab grabbed 3rd position defeating Haryana. It was disclosed by Mr. Mewa Singh Sidhu, Deputy Director (Physical Education) of the Education Department, Punjab in a press communiqué released here today.The trophy was today handed over to the Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema by Deputy Director (Physical Education) which was awarded to Punjab during the annual meeting of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI). Education Minister was informed that in the previous year Punjab was able to get 4th position with the total medal tally as 63 Gold, 128 Silver and 153 Bronze medals. This year the players performed exceptionally well and managed to clinch the third position displacing Haryana.Education Minister Dr. Cheema was beaming with happiness over this remarkable achievement in the National School Games, he extended his greeting to the players and credited the success to strenuous training regime of players, coaches and the support of school staff and sports wing.
