Recarpeting Of Pakhowal Road, Where Sewer Line Is Being Laid, To Start In One Month

Work On Rs 22 Crore Project Has Already Started & Would Be Completed Soon – Darshan Singh Shivalik

Chief Parliamentary Secretary Darshan Singh Shivalik today said that the construction and re-carpeting of Pakhowal Road (starting from Phullanwal Chowk to Lalton village) would be started in one month’s time. Providing world class road infrastructure to its residents, the Punjab government would be four-laning as well as laying the sewer line on the six-kilometer long stretch of Pakhowal Road- starting from Phullanwal Chowk till Lalton village, the work on which is going on in full swing. Costing around Rs 22 crore, the work on this project has already started.While addressing a meeting with shopkeepers, area residents, marriage palace owners as well as several other people, Mr Darshan Singh Shivalik said that the area where the work on laying the sewer line is completed, road would be constructed/re-carpeted side by side. He also urged the area residents to take sewer connections so that the work on road could be started.

Darshan Singh Shivalik also announced that nearby villages would also be linked with this sewer line. He said that once the villages are linked with this sewer line, beautiful parks would be developed on land where the village ponds exist at present. He said that the village residents would only have to fill the pond with the sand and the remaining funds for developing the park would be spent by the Punjab government.Mr Shivalik said that the Punjab government is committed for providing world class road infrastructure to its residents. He said that it was due to the development oriented policies of the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party led Punjab government that they formed government for the second consecutive time in 2012. He said that the government is still focused on carrying overall development of both rural and urban areas of the city and that is why, an amount of Rs 22 crore is being spent on a six-kilometer long stretch of Pakhowal Road alone.

Mr Shivalik assured all those present in the meeting that the project would be completed within the time frame and that there would be no delay. He assured them that the work is going on in full swing and the project would be completed soon. He said that till date, more than Rs 60 crore has been spent on upgrading electricity supply lines in Gill constituency, and several crores of rupees have been spent on other projects.Prominent among those present during the meeting included Zila Parishad member Mr Harpreet Singh Shivalik, Market Committee Ludhiana Chairman Mr Harminder Singh Binder Thakkarwal, Mr Hari Om Sharma, Mr Inderjit Singh from Siddhartha Resorts, Mr Rajwant Singh Grewal from Riviera Resorts and Arcadian Villa, Mr Charanjit Singh Daad, Mr Karamjit Singh Grewal, besides several others.
