Asiya Naqash asks officers to expedite removal of encroachments from Dal lake

Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development Asiea Naqash today impressed upon officials to expedite removal of encroachments from Dal lake.While reviewing the Dal-Nageen Lake Conservation and Management Programme, she passed these instructions.  The meeting was attended byVice Chairman Mr. Sarmad Hafeez, Executive Engineer, AEE, LAWDA , Mechanical Engineers besides other officials.She stressed upon officers and work executing agencies to ensure timely completion of all ongoing developmental projects, so that the benefit of developmental activities percolate to the ground level.LAWDA Officers informed the meeting that out of 2532 structures illegally raised by the locals 940 structures were removed, recently where as encroachment removal drive is implemented vigorously.

Giving details about the families rehabilitated and resettled in the area, the VC said 298 families of Dal dwellers have already been shifted to Rakh-e-Arth Housing colony. He said Out of 2140 plots developed, 1727 plots have already been allotted  to deserving families, while 400 more plots are being developed for the  purpose.VC further informed the minister that out of 26268 households, 19265 households have been connected with STPs. With regard to shifting of House Boats, VC LAWDA said 380 house boats are to be shifted to Dole Demb area and Rs 1 crore has been released in favour of deserving house boat owners against an approved cost of Rs 29.50 crore.Regarding sewerage works, the meeting was informed that the provision of Lateral/secondary sewers in the critical areas of Saida kadal, Rainwari, Nadiyar, Jogi Lanker, Miskeen bagh and Nowpora is being executed by UEED under AMRUT for current fiscal year.
