Protest Dharna by PAU Retirees Association

Today PAU Retirees' Welfare Association (Regd.) held a mammoth Protest Dharna in front of Thapar Hall under the presidentship of Jila Ram Bansal. More than 125 retirees took part inspite of scorching heat and odd weather conditions.Prominent among the speakers were Chairman DP Maur, General Secretary Satish Sood, AS Cheema, Paramjit Gill, Gulzar Pandher, Manjit Mehram, MR Passi. This is the consecutively Fourth Protest Dharna during the last 3 months for the non-payment of Leave Travelling Allowance for July 2015, January 2016, non-availability of medicines in PAU Hospital, non-payment of 23 months ADA arrears, no provision of LTA for the retirees who opted CPF, an Ayurvedic Dispensary of the Health Department of Govt. of Punjab.It is pertinent that all the Pensioners' Associations of PAU are in a dialogue to start a common agitation from the month of July 2016. If the joint venture could not be possible, then only this Association will continuously hold Dharnas w.e.f. 01.07.2016 and on 11.07.2016 and there will be a mammoth Protest March, Protest Rally and a Vishal Protest Dharna in front of Thapar Hall.

Most of the speakers highlighted the ill treatment, misleading attitude of Mr. Avtar Chand Rana, Financial Advisor. The speakers were resenting that Mr. Avtar Chand Rana is the sole cause of the bad management/ill advising to the seniors for creating a mess in the Comptroller Office. They were of the view that if Mr. Rana is removed from contract post, the present situation of agitations may not exist anymore, because all things relating finance may be okay. The speakers told that while there is full flagged Comptroller, Additional Comptroller, Accounts Officers (pay) and others why an additional post/additional burden has been created only for a single person due to whom the PAU Campus is facing day-to-day agitations.In this Dharna HBS Bhatia, SS Sharma, Labh Singh, Jagga Singh Doabia, Gurmukh Singh, TS Sangra, Joginder Ram, Birbal, Iqbal Singh, RS Rangeela, Munni Lal, Vidhu Sharma, Anoop Singh, Parmjit Narula, Mrs. Sapat Kala, Mrs. Sita Devi, Bhagwant Singh, Kamlesh Chander, Nitya Nand were present.
